Shikaribetsu Kohan Onsen Hotel Fusui

I was worried about visiting Lake Shikaribetsu Kotan in winter in a wheelchair, but both the Hotel staff and the Kotan staff supported us as a team, and we were able to stay comfortably. We traveled from Aichi so it took quite a while to get there, but there was Shuttle Service to the station, we enjoyed the spectacular views, and I even got to try what’s ranked as the number one Onsen you should experience at least once—such a wonderful trip! The Onsen had a sulfur scent with a slight layer of oil on the surface, and it left my skin feeling wonderfully moisturized—I was truly impressed. For our child who gets tired easily, we chose in-room dining, and everything was delicious. Even our small eater ate plenty! The char was the best I’ve ever had!

The building is honestly old, but it is clean. The bath is not very large, but there is also an open-air bath and the hot spring water seems to be of good quality. Our room was on the 7th floor with a panoramic view of Lake Shikaribetsu and the surrounding mountains; it was a snowy landscape and absolutely stunning. Dinner was delicious and more than we could finish, including whole grilled char, pork shabu-shabu, seafood ajillo, sashimi, tempura, and more. We were able to relax quietly at our own pace and were very satisfied.
