We were interested in the Shimanami Kaido and stayed here as a couple during Golden Week. From the website, we understood that this Accommodation highlights glamping as its main selling point, so although we wondered whether it might feel out of place for us—since we have no interest in glamping—we chose it because no other Hotel we wanted had availability. We were worried it might feel like an in-between option as a Hotel, but that concern disappeared the moment we stepped out of the Shuttle Service vehicle. We were impressed by the efficient check-in service from the staff, the first-floor entrance and dining area, and above all the beautiful view from there. Because it is located on a small remote island with only a few residents—and we were told that only islanders and Hotel vehicles are allowed to enter—we worried there might be nothing to do once we arrived. However, there were nature-based activities such as cave visits, and we could also walk to the Shimanami Kaido suspension bridge, so there was hardly enough time. Unfortunately, due to light rain and strong winds, our exploration was on foot; if it had been sunny, I think we could have rented the Hotel’s electric bicycles and gone out to Oshima and other areas. The meals featured plenty of fresh fish, and the sea bream rice in particular was outstanding. Drinks are self-serve with unlimited refills, which is irresistible for those who enjoy alcohol. The bath is not an Onsen, but there was plenty of hot water and thoughtfully selected amenities, so we enjoyed it. However, part of the bath in our Room looked as if it was under repair: one section of wall appeared to be temporarily covered with boards nailed on, and there was mold-like staining around that area. For that reason I lowered my rating for the guest room. I expect it will be fixed soon, but it did bother me slightly. The Shuttle Service staff on both arrival and departure kindly gave us guidance about the surrounding area as well—it was very enjoyable. This is a sightseeing Hotel that can be fully enjoyed not only by young families but also by mature couples like us.

Not only was the Room wonderful, but the host was truly kind. Even though I contacted them just two days in advance to plan a surprise celebration for my companion, they prepared a message plate and even decorated the Room for us. I’d love to stay again.

It would be no exaggeration to say that this stay was the best among all the Hotels I have ever stayed at. Above all, the cuisine was truly outstanding—an experience that felt like “heaven.” The variety of dishes was impressive, and each ingredient freshly sourced from Amakusa was carefully and deliciously prepared. I was moved throughout the entire meal. When serving each dish, the staff also shared stories about the ingredients and wine, which made it especially enjoyable—not just eating, but appreciating the background as well. Everything was delicious, but what stood out most were the sushi with Amakusa kuruma prawns and Amakusa ishigaki sea bream, and the steak made with Amakusa black beef loin. Each dish brought out the best of its ingredients, and in particular, the steak had such concentrated flavor that it became an unforgettable plate. At breakfast, both “Kumasan no Kagayaki” rice and Tamango egg-over-rice were also incredibly delicious—I was impressed from first thing in the morning. The service was excellent as well. The staff’s warm and attentive hospitality left a strong impression. Everyone—including those in the kitchen—greeted us pleasantly, and thoughtful care could be felt everywhere. The Room was a villa type with each unit separate, so we hardly encountered other guests at all. We were able to relax in a private space at our own pace. From welcome drinks to checkout, every moment felt special—it was a truly fulfilling stay. This is a wonderful Accommodation that I would love to visit again.

We chose this place because of the great Reviews, and it was a wonderful lodge just as described. We stayed to celebrate our dog’s birthday, and we were truly touched that a handmade dog cake had been prepared! The private dog run was also excellent—there was no mud even after the rain, and the ground felt thick and high quality. Being able to sleep together with our dog was another big plus. The interior was clean, and the Facility amenities were well equipped, making it a flawless stay. It became a great memory for both our dog and my son who traveled with us. At checkout, we were given handmade treats for our dog as well—an outstanding level of hospitality.

This is our third stay. Because it’s a whole-house rental, we can relax without worrying about others, and it has become our favorite Accommodation. The water dispenser, ice maker, well-stocked amenities, spacious bath, and comfortable beds for a great night’s sleep… we truly feel we’ve found a wonderful Accommodation. Misaki Port is also a favorite spot for us as a couple. We stay at Irifune and enjoy looking for new places to eat each time. We would love to stay again.

We stayed for two nights during the Golden Week holidays. It was a dream-like three days spent with our family and friends. We were satisfied with everything. The Facility was kept very clean and well maintained, and we had a comfortable stay. We truly appreciate the staff’s thoughtful attention to detail. Thank you very much. It can’t be helped at this time of year as weeds grow quickly, but there were some weeds in the dog run that dogs should not eat. We would be happy if you could remove at least the long-headed poppy (Papaver dubium).

I usually stay here on solo trips, but this time I stayed in the pet-friendly building with my parents. They were happy that they didn’t have to climb steep stairs, and that meals could be served in the Room so they didn’t have to worry about being considerate of others. As always, we were very satisfied with the dishes, especially the fresh seafood. Having a shower booth is another great perk of the pet-friendly building—you can even wash your hair in the morning. I will definitely visit again, and I’d like to bring my parents back while they’re still healthy enough to travel.

This was the first Hotel where we could enjoy sunrise, sunset, and the night view over the peninsula from our Room. On top of that, the staff’s thoughtfulness was reflected in everything—the spotless cleanliness of the Room, the variety and arrangement of amenities, and even the selection of drinks in the refrigerator. It was simply outstanding. Communicating with the staff and manager was truly comforting, and they were so considerate with the Shuttle Service that we almost felt bad. Even a small comment would be met with “How about this?” as they did everything possible beyond any manual—so much so that we felt we shouldn’t casually mention anything. When we told them it was to celebrate our daughter’s graduation and new job, they created unforgettable memories for us with a handmade bouquet and a champagne toast. Our daughter kept saying to both the staff—and even on our flight home—that she would work hard and definitely come back again. It seems this Accommodation has become a goal for her. There is still so much more I can’t fit here, but among all the Hotels we have stayed at, this became our very best Accommodation. It was truly a wonderful stay. On my first trip to Toyama, I must admit I wasn’t familiar with Makinooto, but I found it on IKYU and made a Reservation—and it turned out to be an unforgettable, lovely experience. The view from the Room was a peaceful rural landscape; the cherry blossoms were at their best, and the daffodils were charming as well. After relaxing in the lobby atmosphere and taking my time checking in, I found the Room spacious and perfectly appointed—nothing lacking, nothing excessive—and I could truly unwind. The food was flawless. I honestly want to come back again soon (laugh). I was also able to relax in the bath, and everything was just wonderful. With its gentle, unhurried charm that’s hard to put into words, it truly soothed my heart. Also, the cherry blossoms at Mukaino—just a short walk from the Accommodation—were in full bloom as well. I stopped by on my way home, and several locals were there taking photos; chatting with them made it an especially memorable trip. To all of your staff—the chef and the proprietress as well—thank you very much for everything.

We were welcomed with a welcome drink and ohagi, followed by complimentary soft drinks and snacks, and in the evening there was also alcohol service. At dinner we enjoyed a special dish from the head chef, and although we chose a Japanese breakfast, French toast was also served. There were plenty of extra treats as well, including grilled squid and chikuwa as a late-night snack—an Accommodation full of thoughtful services. Both breakfast and dinner were served in private dining rooms, so we could relax. All staff members greeted us with smiles and provided pleasant service. The Room was thoroughly cleaned down to every detail, making our stay very comfortable. Checkout is at 11:00 a.m., so we were able to take our time with a morning bath and enjoy a relaxing morning. Amenities: 4 — I would have liked to be able to choose between samue loungewear or yukata. Meals: 4 — Even the smaller-portion Plan still felt quite generous. This was our second stay, and it’s an Accommodation we would love to return to.
