Japan’s first full-scale mountain resort, a landmark of Kamikochi steeped in history

Kamikochi, once known as the sacred land of Kamikawachi, remains unchanged in its natural beauty. The Kamikochi Imperial Hotel continues to captivate visitors with its breathtaking surroundings. The pristine Azusa River, the majestic Hotaka Mountains, and the serene Myojin Pond... Spending time amidst the harmonious changes of the seasons is truly the ultimate luxury.

  • I had planned to visit many times but could never make it due to work and other commitments—my long-awaited dream: the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel. This time, by a happy miracle, everything in both my private and professional life fell perfectly into place, and I was finally able to visit Kamikochi for the first time—and stay overnight! The moment I saw your red roof in the distance was truly moving. The dignified presence and refined manners of every staff member, the building’s rich history and the beautifully maintained Facilities throughout, the cuisine that only an Imperial Hotel can offer, the adorable greetings from wild monkeys and birds, the wonderfully fresh, clear air and pristine river water, the excellent quality of the lovely two-tone umbrellas and rainwear available to borrow, the impressive grandeur of the fireplace and even the scent of burning wood…I enjoyed every aspect of my stay.Away from everyday life, I felt refreshed, relaxed, and truly enjoyed myself—almost like returning to childhood. In early April, I also happened to visit the Imperial Hotel Kyoto (which had just opened in March) at exactly the right time for Miyako Odori, and I was deeply impressed by the hospitality of everyone there, including the general manager. This was my first stay at the Kamikochi Imperial Hotel, and once again I was profoundly moved bythe history shared by Imperial Hotels across Japan, and by the pride, professionalism, and vibrant spirit of those who carry that legacy forward today. It was a truly precious experience for which I am sincerely grateful. It has given me renewed motivation to work even harder in both my career and daily life.Thank you very much for everything. With heartfelt appreciation.

  • This was my third visit to Kamikochi, but after watching “Buratamori,” I decided to stay here at least once. I say “decided” because it’s expensive. It is expensive, but the satisfaction far exceeded the price.First, the elegant interior and furnishings that convey a sense of history have been renewed to an even higher standard, with meticulous cleaning and premium amenities.Next, truly thorough hospitality—staff always understand each guest and work seamlessly together to provide attentive service. Then there’s the quality of the meals, sweets, cocktails, and more. This Hotel perfectly embodies what a mountain Resort Hotel should be, delivering such satisfaction that you forget about the cost.
